Hello, Dunder Mifflin, This Is A Fan
I think most autobiographies can be named ‘Psycho Lives Inside’. We’re all weird in our own ways, making our way through this weird world while trying to fit ourselves in a weird little box called ‘normal’. The Office flips this notion on its head and celebrates this weirdness. Literally, every character is full of perks and quirks and their stories are well… random. I always try to find a character I can relate to the most, the one that perfectly defines me, and then I cling to their story to sort of shape my own. Do you do that too? In The Office, I found a little bit of myself in every character and I realised my story can unfold in any way. That’s the beauty of this show. It welcomes you into this mad world and helps you realise that you belong here as much as anyone else. And despite us constantly screaming inside our heads, there is hope.
The genius of the show is in its writing. It’s difficult to find humour in adversities and groundedness in joy. However, the show manages to take us through these beats with pillows behind our backs and cosy blankets laid out, while we sit back in our pyjamas. Comedy is a difficult genre to crack. No Jokes (haha). But these writers have hit it out of the park with such sincere and brilliant people to bring this piece to life. I’m glad all of them did what they did and today we have something we can always fall back on.
This piece is nothing but a giant hug to the makers of the show that I will always cherish. I will hold onto it when things get hard… that’s what she said. I’m sorry. I just had to. I hope you too find humour every now and then. Especially when life seems otherwise. And well, just know that everything we want, we will get. And we can't work for it. It just comes to us. That's what Michael said.
Beautifully written! :) And I second every single sentence.
