Quaran-time
Hey. I hope you're doing well. Just thought I'd stop by and say hello and also, share my thoughts on the 'situation' we're in.
First things first, let's rid ourselves of any judgement. It's a fairly new situation and we're all trying to figure it out so.. no judgements. Let's just be nice to ourselves (already!) So I've been up to a lot of little little things. Having no job and quarantined gives you a lot of time. Yeah, I left my job and just before I thought of running into another one, the universe had different plans. After consulting with my therapist, I've decided to slow down and do things I like/love, irrespective of the results or seeing them as potential 'skills' for my resume (screw you capitalism!) I thought of just vibing with myself so I walked down the memory lane and made my first stop at drawing. Oh! My first true love. 'In the brush doing what it's doing, it will stumble on what one couldn't do by oneself' said Robert Motherwell and I've been living by the gentleman's words before I knew him. I'm not an expert at drawing, I just do it because it feels home. It's like an intimate conversation between me and my thoughts so I've been pecking tips from here and there and learning some new techniques to translate my thoughts better. This slowly transitioned me into trying out calligraphy and I've never tested my patience so much! It was a bit frustrating at first because I didn't get it right (tell me about going easy on myself lol.. please do.. seriously) Soon it turned into something relaxing, cancelling out the noise in my mind.
Then I made the next stop at Origami and it took me back to the art and craft period during school. No deadline and marks this time helped. Trust me, it's pure genius what all we can create with paper. So far I've made two rabbits, elephants (mama and baby), boats and cherry blossoms. They're all so pretty! While I was at it, I remembered an impending wish of mine- to learn Spanish and guess what..
Yep, I registered myself for a conversational Spanish course and eso es genial! I still take my time to think and respond but hey, welcome new language! I also learned something interesting, to get the words out right, you don't need the accent (sure it helps but..) try thinking in Spanish! I imagine myself on the streets of Spanish and conversing with people. It's a different ball-game altogether.
I think I'll rest this for now. There are a bunch of other things I want to share and I will.. but in the next post. Hope you'd want to give it a read. :)
Take care and don't give up. Trust me, better things are coming.

Woah! I loved reading this. I can totally relate to you right now on leaving the job and the universe having different plans. And I'm happy you are exploring so many new things. Drawing was also my first love and yeah I tried my mind at Spanish too before. It's just amazing to know you can have something so much in common with someone apart from favourite TV shows. Keep writing Soniya, you have a beautiful blog up here. :)
