Paint The Town All Colours
"One can speak poetry, just by arranging colours well." - Vincent Van Gogh
Sometimes life gets overwhelming, doesn't it? There is so much to feel, so much to unlearn and just so much to deal with and before you know it, a year has gone by.
They say express yourself. But how? Sometimes words don't seem enough and at times like these, I turn to my childhood companion- Colours. I remember jumping around whenever my parents got me new colouring books. This love for colouring then slowly poured in drawing. I would always find myself scribbling something on the last pages of my school diary or making doodles around my name on book labels. Heaps of drawing books; pages and pages filled with my sometimes unexplainable, sometimes wishful whims. No technique, no strategy, just "vibes"; as what some people describe my illustrations today. Even though I digressed further away from my canvas and colours as academics took domination, we met each other again, like old friends do. I would say that was one acceptable positive that came from the pandemic. Also, this time around it wasn't just papers but I learnt to paint digitally. And boy did I arrive late to this party. But it's never too late, I guess? It's so much different (well, obviously). I say this cause I'm used to feeling the texture of paper and paints. However, the thought process stays the same. There are still those unexplainable thoughts, unprocessed feelings that make their way on the canvas (mostly digital now). I'm not saying I'm really good at it, hell I always refrain from calling myself an 'artist' or even getting called one, but I just love to see my thoughts take some shape or colour. In case you feel like checking it out, my work is available on my Instagram account: @whimsical.sunflower. Do drop by if you feel like it.
I guess that's enough blabber for now. If you've made it this far then Thank You. Know that it means something to me :)
